Engine refresh less than 1,000miles ago
The aim when building this car was to have a reliable 550bhp capable road going GTR, what better option than to choose the HKS 2.8 step 1 Stroker kit which includes HKS forged pistons, HKS fully forged & balanced counter crankshaft and HKS H section con rods, ACL race spec bearings were also installed for extra durability. HKS recommend safe power rating of around 600bhp for there 2.8 step 1 engine. The benefits of running 2.8 litre instead of the stock 2.6 litre is the extra torque you get low down and you can really feel this when driving in comparison to a stock displacement RB26 engine.
To stop any oil issues it's also running a JUN oil pump which is known for being one of the best aftermarket oil pumps made for the RB26 providing this GTR with 6-8bar of oil pressure when cold and 3 bar at hot idle. Also a Trust sump extension has been installed for extra oil capacity and to stop any oil starvation issues when cornering hard. As this was primarily going to be used as a fast road car the turbos that were chosen are the very popular Garret 2860-5's these are known for excellent boost response and are suitable for up to 600bhp. Cooling has been taken care of by the Double capacity alloy radiator and Grex oil cooler, oil and water temps are always steady and float around 70- 75 degrees when cruising.
Performance
Incredibly easy to drive for such a modified car, almost feels stock until you put your foot down! Thanks to the HKS 2.8 low down torque and response it instantly feels different to a 2.6. Acceleration is very strong and smooth throughout the rev range and keeps you pinned back in your seat till you let off. Thanks to the Granador Racing Titan GD 771R exhaust system the car sounds totally awesome when driving through the gears and even on idle.
Brakes and Handling
Aragosta Coilovers have been installed all round, known for being one of the best aftermarket suspensions available in Japan very expensive but the quality is second to none. The ride is very comfortable and it seems to absorb bumps in the road effortlessly and does not throw the car off like cheaper brands. Brakes well what I can say they are simply fantastic! GREX 6 pot fronts with 355mm grooved discs and GREX 4 pots for the rear with 330mm discs, braking power is simply phenomenal, this brake setup would have cost over 5,000 GBP installed.
Exterior
Very clean throughout, as this car has only had one owner in the U.K he has cherished and maintained to a very high standard including regular waxing to protect the paintwork. The body work is near on perfect, the wheels have some kerb marks but that's about all I can fault on the exterior. It also benefits from the 1997 model Xenon's headlights which don't only look awesome but also provide a great amount of light in comparison to stock lights. The brilliant white paintwork set off by the ever popular bronze 18inch CE28 alloys gives this GTR a subtle yet aggressive stance.
Interior
As you would expect for a 60,000km GTR the interior is immaculate with no signs of wear and tear, still original seats, steering wheel and gear knob which are a testament to its low mileage. Also installed are DEFI exhaust and boost gauges which finish the interior off perfectly.
