We've said it before and we'll say it again: The Skyline GT-R is an outright amazing machine the car's potential is undeniable. Take this R32 Skyline GT-R built and tuned by Tex Modify up in Ibaraki Japan. A shop that’s been around for decades, first specializing in street/drag builds, and later preparing drift machines like Tanaka’s Team Orange S15 and Impreza.
The recipe for domination began with the engine. Tex modify removed the stock RB26DETT engine to install an Array of JDM goodness, its Running an R34 N1 complete engine with further upgrades. Breathing in through the intakes, the Trust T88 turbo blows into Trust intercooler piping and a massive Trust intercooler which keeps the intake temps well under control. Sharing space in the nose with a Trust oil cooler kit neatly mounted in the front bumper with additional cooler for the power steering. The huge Trust snail exits into a Trust down pipe and into a refreshingly stealthy Trust titanium exhaust system.
The HKS V-Cam Pro system replaces the intake camshaft and allows the use of variable valve timing on the intake side whenever the system is activated. Interfacing with a HKS v-cam control module the V-Cam system has been used by Tex modify to maximize the power band for more than just high-RPM track use.
Tex modify also installed a Holinger built HKS 6 speed Dogbox Transmission. This takes a little getting used to but believe me when we say a dogbox Be it a H-pattern or Sequential completely transform’s the drive of a skyline and allows for lag less shift through gears.
The stock clutch has been changed out for a HKS twin plate, it’s progressive and easy to use even in slow traffic, differentials have also been upgraded to 1.5way items front and rear with larger oil capacity diff covers.
In order to repeatedly and consistently stop this massive missile, Tex installed a set of huge 6 Pot Greddy callipers up front and Greddy 4 pots on the rear which offer a huge amount of braking performance which can be finely tuned via the in car willwood brake bias controller.
The Apexi N1 coilovers provide the perfect dampening settings. Giving the R32 balance and control, these coilovers alongside all the Ikeya adjustable formula arms allow the heavyweight GT-R to dance like a flyweight and drive like a car half its size.
This R32 GT-R is not your average tuned Skyline, and Tex modify is not your average tuner garage. Changes have been made to the engine, transmission, brakes, body and interior, but every piece has been engineered and thought out to provide a distinct advantage.
What surprised us most about this example is being so highly modified is how easy the car ran,
Oil pressure is healthy 6 bar+ cold start and 2.5bar hot idle. The car starts and idles effortlessly and the clutch and gearbox are easy to use for street use.
Low boost would be enough to satisfy most people’s needs but high boost is just another level! Literally pins you to the seat till you let off! And the sound of the exhaust/external wastegate and Iconic RB26 will leave you grinning from ear to ear. We recently ran the car up on Redline Tunings dyno and it made 654hp effortlessly on pump fuel.
With the rapidly increasing prices of the Skyline GTR models now is the best time to buy, many collectors are also joining in the race to own these legendary automobiles. The huge worldwide demand for the Skyline GT-R models have seen buying frenzy’s in Japan/worldwide.
