HJA are extremely delighted to offer you a true piece of Subaru Tuning history. The JUN Auto Mechanic GRB WRX STI “Street spec” displayed on JUN’s show stands all over Japan.
JUN performance manufacture a wide range of high-performance high-quality engine parts for Japanese vehicles. JUN has established itself through competition in a large number of race categories, including drag, top speed such as the Bonneville Speed Trial and circuit racing.
The recipe for domination began with the engine. JUN removed the Stock EJ207 engine to install a JUN 2.2L Stroker kit. Consisting Billet crank, Aluminium forged pistons and I-Beam Rods, the Stroker kit uses increased displacement to provide more torque through the lower rpm range.
Breathing in through Trust airlynx intake and Jun piping pipe, the Trust turbo blows into Jun piping and front-mount intercooler which keeps the intake temps well under control. Sharing space in the nose with a Trust oil cooler kit neatly mounted in the front bumper.
The stock clutch has been changed out for a 600whp-ready Exedy twin plate clutch, which feeds into cusco carbon limited-slip differentials front and rear. The clutch is not overly snappy and is easy to use on street.
In order to repeatedly and consistently stop this compact missile, JUN installed a set of Custom JUN six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes. Fitted with huge two-piece brake rotors front and rear, the JUN callipers squeeze Endless NA-R brake pads and have proven to be fade-free in testing.
The Zeal super function coilovers provide the perfect dampening settings, set up using hours of trackside research. Giving the GRB balance and control at high speeds.
The lightweight body parts produced by ING’s are immaculately moulded, with parts passing for OEM replacements to the passing eye.
Interior can easily be put back to stock with the removal of gauges (stuck down) and installation of an oem driver’s seat.
Mechanically the car is spot on, starts and idles smoothly whether hot or cold with no smoking. Oil pressure is always strong and water temps are always stable even under hard driving. Currently running around 1.6bar which sees around 360-380ps at the flywheel. Jun were not chasing power figures when building this car rather a balanced drive that could go flat out around a track without breaking a sweat. The engine itself is very much overly engineered for the current setup so if you did want to install a larger Turbo everything is there good to go for more power.
The JUN WRX STI GRB is not your average tuned Impreza, and JUN Auto is not your average tuner garage. Changes have been made to the engine, transmission, brakes, tires, body and interior, but every piece has been engineered and thought out to provide a distinct advantage. So it's no wonder that when you take the already fantastic WRX STI, and then add in JUN Auto to the equation, you end up with success.
We cannot reiterate how difficult it is to find Impreza’s with this spec in Japan these days. With the worldwide demand for these Japanese Icons the prices are continuously on the increase. We have been monitoring the market very closely over the past few years and we can assure you there is no sign of prices coming back down. Most Japanese owners whether private/Dealers or tuning shops are simply holding onto their stock as they have become appreciating classics.
