HJA bring you another extremely rare find, this particular version of the Stagea is the Autech model which uses the complete engine and drive train from an R33GTR which has been further modified to produce a staggering 607bhp.
The Stock RB26 has been stripped and kitted out with forged 87mm pistons and rods increasing the displacement to just under 2.7l. A Trust sump extension installed to increase oil capacity and a more durable N1 oil pump to replace the stock RB26 item. The extra displacement helps spool the HKS T04R single turbo, the HKS snail exits into a HKS down pipe and into a refreshingly stealthy stainless steel exhaust system- we could write another paragraph just about the sound of this thing on boost!
They have also installed 4.375 differentials (very rare mod), now these have been used in many of the top tuner demo GT-Rs in Japan, with this shorter final drive it really helps with acceleration/torque at lower rpm and transforms the characteristics of the RB engine.
We recently run the car up on Redline tunings dyno and it effortlessly made 607.5bhp, boost can be increased but we think this power level makes for an awesome road sleeper, make no doubt about it this is one very quick wagon!
Exterior is in fantastic condition with no accident history, interior is also clean with a lovely stealthy gauge pod with an array of Greddy gauges in the glovebox. It’s not just clean on top, underneath has to be seen to be appreciated- quite hard to believe this cult classic is 23 years old as the condition puts most newer cars to shame.
A bit more about these fantastic cars:
Autech is a specialist outfit founded in 1986 by Nissan as a sort of skunkworks tuning arm. Think of it as similar to the Nismo (Nissan-motorsports) name, a refinement of Nissan-branded speed and power.
The first president of Autech was Shinichiro Sakurai, a man often heralded as the father of the Nissan Skyline. Later, the company was helmed by Hiroshi Tamura, currently the Chief Product Specialist at Nismo, and owner of a 600-hp slate-grey sleeper GT-R. With guys like that, you're going to get some crazy in your station wagon.
Autech took Nissan's family-hauler, bunged out the already potent top-spec 2.5L twin-turbo engine and running gear, and transplanted in the heart of a giant. Running essentially all the same gear as the R33-chassis Skyline GT-R, this 260RS has a 2.6L twin-turbo straight six engine that revs past 8,000 rpm, a five-speed manual gearbox, ATTESA all-wheel-drive, extra bracing, Brembo brakes, BBS wheels, a limited slip rear differential, and extra aerodynamic trim.
Rare model Nissans are now extremely sought after worldwide, and are considered the next big thing in the burgeoning classic and performance car market.
We cannot reiterate how difficult it is to find a properly modified Stagea Autech 260RS these days. Sourcing modified examples like this is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Overall if you are after a cherished modified example to enjoy yourself, to be part of a collection or as an investment look no further.
