This is one of those rare RX-7s that instantly reminds you why the FD3S has become such an icon. Built by Pro Staff R-Magic— one of the most respected rotary specialists in Japan — and finished with a full suite of genuine RE Amemiya aero, this Type RS is a properly engineered, exceptionally clean, and beautifully sorted example of what a modern rotary build should be.


A superb foundation to begin with — a clean 1998 RX-7 Type RS, Japanese Auction Grade 4 and accident-free. It currently shows 101,488 km, with the engine rebuilt by R-Magic at 96,100 km, giving the motor just 5,388 km since its complete overhaul.



R-Magic, established in 1993, is a legendary name in rotary tuning, known for producing high-end engine components, cooling solutions, exhaust systems, suspension, electronics, and aero. Their demo car famously starred in the Japanese motorsport film SpeedMaster, and their builds today are regarded as some of the best in Japan.


This particular car features a side-ported engine strengthened with a host of R-Magic upgrades and refined using their renowned rotary expertise, resulting in a reliable and seriously potent engine package. It’s paired with a full modern single-turbo conversion built around a Garrett G35-900 setup, supported by upgraded fuelling, extensive cooling enhancements, premium heat management and a long list of R-Magic bespoke fabrication work. It drives every bit as well as the spec suggests — crisp, responsive and genuinely thrilling behind the wheel.



A recent compression test returned excellent, even figures across both rotors, and the mapping was checked by Jaydee, who described it as “one of the nicest, well-built RX-7s I’ve seen in a long time.” The car feels tight, eager, confidence-inspiring, and exceptionally fun to drive. R-Magic dyno tested the car at 450ps — widely regarded as the perfect sweet spot for a road-driven RX-7.

Visually, it is a complete standout, wearing a full suite of genuine RE Amemiya aero in Machine Grey Premium Metallic. The fitment, finish and presence are spot-on — aggressive without being overdone, exactly how a high-end FD should look.


Inside and underneath, the quality continues with RM-overhauled Öhlins coilovers, RAYS forged wheels, ATS Carbon LSD, RM chassis links, Defi gauges, BRIDE Zeta bucket seat, RM 7-point cage and countless premium details that set this car apart from the usual FD builds.
