HJA is delighted to offer this stunning late-model Mazda RX-7 Type R Bathurst — a beautifully preserved example that represents the very best of Mazda’s final-era rotary engineering.

Finished in the iconic Innocent Blue Mica and supported by a full lifetime Mazda/rotary specialist service history in Japan, this is exactly the calibre of FD3S that collectors and enthusiasts chase.

The Bathurst Edition — produced to commemorate Mazda’s success at the legendary Australian endurance race — was one of the final, most focused variants of the RX-7. Powered by the formidable 280hp twin-turbo 13B, paired to a crisp 5-speed manual, and weighing in at roughly 1280kg, the Bathurst delivers the razor-sharp response, balance and feedback that made the FD3S a world-famous driver’s car. Unique touches such as the white cluster dials and Nardi steering wheel set it apart as a genuine special edition.

With an impressive Japanese Auction Grade 4 and paintwork that still gleams with depth, the car presents outstandingly well. The bodywork is clean and straight, and the chassis is remarkably rust-free — a rare and highly desirable trait for an FD of this age. Mechanically, it’s just as strong: the engine fires instantly, idles cleanly and pulls smoothly, with a recent compression test confirming its excellent health.

We had the vehicle inspected by Redline Tuning in November 2025, and aside from a few routine maintenance items, they confirmed it to be in excellent condition, driving superbly.

Inside, the cabin feels surprisingly fresh. Wear points are minimal, the original steering wheel and shift knob remain in place, and even the factory floor mats have survived — small details that speak volumes about the care this example has received. Aside from an upgraded stereo, it retains that authentic factory ambience that true purists love.

With RX-7 values rising rapidly — particularly in Japan—clean, well-maintained late-model Bathurst Editions are increasingly difficult to source. This example stands out as a rare opportunity to secure a highly original, exceptionally preserved FD3S with strong provenance, stunning condition, and all the hallmarks of a blue-chip future investment.
